MCHS splits games in tourney Thursday

Morgan City split its opening games at its Lady Tiger Classic, while Patterson won its opener against New Iberia.
Morgan City defeated Episcopal School of Acadiana 2-0 (26-24, 25-19) and fell to South Terrebonne 2-1 (18-25, 25-15, 4-15).
Allie Vincent led the Lady Tigers with two aces, two kills, six assists and six digs.
Other top contributors included Abby Reynaud, four kills, six assists and four digs; Kennedy Hebert, three kills, three blocks and five digs; Katelyn Gautreaux, one ace and 11 digs; and Brandi Albarado, one ace and nine digs.
Against South Terrebonne, Cecily Feliciano had three aces, three kills and two digs, while Dwanna LeBeau had four kills, one block and three digs.
Other top contributors included Hebert, three kills and nine digs; Gautreaux, one ace and 10 digs; Reynaud, five assists and three digs; Alexandra Thompson, three blocks and two digs; and Albarado, six digs.
Morgan City will return to action Saturday at the Morgan City High School’s Multi-Purpose Building with matches against Hahnville at 10:30 a.m. and Westlake at 12:30 p.m.
Patterson defeated New Iberia 2-0 (25-22, 25-19).
Erykah Singleton led the Lumberjills with one ace, eight kills and one dig, while Arian Grogan had four kills and four blocks.
Other top contributors included Madison Paul, three aces, one kill and two digs; Tapanga Haven, one ace, three digs and 12 assists; and Katelyn Larson, four digs.
Patterson will return to action Saturday with three matches in Morgan City Junior High School’s Girls Gym. The squad will face Central Lafourche at 10:30 a.m., Covenant Christian at 1:30 p.m. and Ellender at 3:30 p.m.
In other action Thursday:
—Ellender defeated Central Lafourche 2-0 (25-15, 25-18).
—Riverside defeated Newman 2-0 (25-21, 25-21).
—Riverside topped Thibodaux 2-0 (25-23, 25-21).
—Houma Christian beat West St. Mary 2-0 (25-15, 25-18)
—Hahnville beat Episcopal School of Acadiana 2-1 (15-25, 25-21, 15-6).
