MCHS tennis splits with Vandebilt

The Morgan City High School tennis teams split with Vandebilt Catholic Monday as the Lady Tigers won 5-1, while the Tigers fell 3-1.
In girls’ action, the Lady Tigers won two out of three singles’ matches as Morgan City’s Eliannys Cabrera defeated Stephanie Alevizon, 8-6; and Krystina Pitre defeated Elize Armand, 8-6.
Morgan City’s Kelleigh Gaspard fell to Mary Cronier 4-1.
In doubles’ action, Morgan City swept the three matches as Harleigh Price and Savannah Loupe defeated Courtney Foundren and Rachel Haydel, 8-0; Katelyn Gautreaux and Gaspard topped Julia Foundren and Ally Arceneaux, 6-4; and Amber Colbert and Jamie Scioneaux defeated Sarah Fabre and Ashley Clement, 8-2.
In boys’ action, Morgan City’s lone win came in doubles action as Andre Steckler and Elijah Franklin defeated Jeremy Rome and Blake Robertson, 8-4.
In other doubles’ action, Morgan City’s Omar Ledezma and Johnny Ha fell to Jackson Bolinger and Corbin Hebert, 8-0, while Luke Matherne and Mason Rutledge dropped their match to Evan Olsen and Buddy Angellete, 6-3.
In singles’ action, Vandebilt Catholic’s Christian Page edged Morgan City’s Jude Johnson 9-8.
Morgan City will return to action March 6 when it hosts Assumption at 3:30 p.m.
