MCHS Tigers compete at Terrebonne Soccer tourney

The Morgan City High School boys soccer team finished 1-0-1 at Terrebonne High School’s tournament early this week.
While Morgan City fell to Terrebonne, 3-0, Monday, the Tigers bounced back with a 3-0 win against Thibodaux Tuesday before playing to a tie against Covenant Christian.
The Lady Tigers finished 0-2-1 at the same tournament as they fell to Terrebonne, 5-0 and H.L. Bourgeois, 4-1, while tying South Terrebonne.
Friday, the Morgan City High School soccer teams split their contests with Cecilia as the Tigers won, 2-1, and the Lady Tigers fell, 2-1.
In boys’ action, Morgan City trailed 1-0 at halftime.
“We outshot them the first half and out possessed, just couldn’t score,” Morgan City soccer coach Trevor Patterson said.
After some halftime adjustments, Morgan City tied the game with a goal by Keny Valle Ramos before securing the win later with a goal by Brayan Aleman.
In girls’ action, Morgan City’s goal was scored by Angie Sagastizado.
“We had some layers missing that could have really made the difference in the game,” Patterson said. “Also, we missed 3 goals during play, which also didn’t help.”
The Tigers (7-10-1 overall, 0-2 in district) won’t return to action until Jan. 3 when it hosts New Orleans Military & Maritime Academy in District 7-III action.
The Lady Tigers (3-8-2, 1-1) also won’t hit the field again until Jan. 3 when they host New Orleans Military & Maritime Academy in league play.
