MCHS Tigers edge Terrebonne, 1-0
The Morgan City Tigers began their season with a bang as the Tigers defeated Terrebonne, 1-0 at Tiger Stadium Thursday.
The Tigers started things out quickly as they scored on their first shot on offense when Irving Delgado connected on a goal in the first minute of the game. The goal, though, was the lone one the Tigers could muster, although Morgan City had chances for more.
“We kept Terrebonne on their side of the field and did well to shut them down on defense,” Morgan City coach Trevor Patterson said. “Biggest error on our part was not being able to finish the balls to score.”
Morgan City will return to action Saturday when it hosts Teurlings Catholic at 10 a.m.
Central Lafourche
defeats Lady Tigers
Central Lafourche knocked off Morgan City in girls’ soccer action, 2-0 Thursday at Tiger Stadium.
The teams played a scoreless first half before the Lady Tigers surrendered two goals on defense in the second half.
However, Patterson said his team played well on defense.
Offensively, Patterson said they had chances to score but just couldn’t connect.
“We have (five) returning players and (six) new players on the field so the youth and inexperience hurts,” Patterson said. “We are lucky now to have some true speed up top. We just need to work on finishing.”
