MCHS Tigers fall to Ellender in hoops

The Morgan City High School Tigers opened District 7-4A action Tuesday with a 61-45 loss to Ellender at home.
While the Tigers trailed just 13-8 after the first quarter, Ellender continued to build its lead during the next two quarters, taking a 28-16 lead into halftime and a 50-33 lead after three quarters.
Morgan City clipped Ellender in the scoring column in the final quarter, 12-11.
Buddy Humphrey led the Tigers with 15 points, while Jaylen Jones scored 11.
Other top contributors included Brady Fryou, eight; Marquise Green, five; and Malcolm Watkins, four.
Morgan City (1-15 overall, 0-1 in district) will return to action Friday when it travels to Bourg to face South Terrebonne in a 7:30 p.m. contest.
Berwick games
rescheduled
Berwick girls’ and boys’ basketball games, originally scheduled to be played Tuesday, were postponed due to a miscommunication and now will be played today in Berwick, Berwick girls’ basketball coach Heather Blanchard said. Girls will tip off at 4 p.m. with boys to follow at 5:30 p.m.
The Panthers’ and Lady Panthers’ games they had scheduled at home on Feb. 7 now will be played at Franklin.
