MCHS volleyball splits matches at its Lady Tiger Classic

Morgan City split its games Thursday at its annual Lady Tiger Classic, knocking off Houma Christian but falling to Hahnville.
Against Houma Christian, Morgan City won 2-1 (27-25, 28-30, 15-11).
Morgan City had six solo blocks.
Abby Reynaud led Morgan City with two kills, 17 assists, one dig and two solo blocks. Other top contributors included Sh’diamond Holly, 13 kills, four digs and four solo blocks; Katelyn Gautreaux, two aces and eight digs; and Karmen Peterson, four kills, three aces, and one dig.
Against H.L. Bourgeois, Morgan City fell 2-0 (25-10, 25-8)
Reynaud led Morgan City with one kill, five assists and two digs. Other top contributors included Gautreaux, five digs; and Holly, three kills and one solo block.
Morgan City (3-7) will return to action Saturday in the school’s MultiPurpose Building when it faces Westlake at 9:30 a.m. The squad also will meet Episcopal School of Acadiana at 11:30 a.m.
Bracket play will begin at 3:30 p.m. with the finals set for 4:30 p.m.
In other action Thursday at Morgan City’s tournament, Berwick fell to South Lafourche 2-0 (27-25, 25-22).
As a team, Berwick had six solo blocks.
Alyssa Gray led Berwick with three aces, four kills, one block, five assists and five digs. Other top contributors included Mary Jordan Melancon, one kill, one block, four assists and 12 digs; Sydney Aucoin, four kills, three solo blocks and five digs; Ryleigh Arnold, one kill, two blocks and three digs; Brittany Roberie, six digs; and Roslyn Gros, five digs.
Berwick (3-8) will return to action Saturday when it meets Carencro at 9 a.m. in the Morgan City Junior High School boys gym.
Also Thursday, Patterson fell to Thibodaux, 2-0 (27-25, 25-19).
No individual statistics were available.
Patterson (1-3) will return to action Saturday when it faces Sulphur in a 9 a.m. contest in Morgan City Junior High School’s girls gym.
After pool play concludes Saturday at the junior high, teams will be seeded for play, beginning at noon. The championship is set for a 5 p.m. start.

CCHS sweeps
East Ascension
Central Catholic swept East Ascension at home Thursday, 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-10).
The Lady Eagles had eight solo blocks.
Quincee Wiggins led the Lady Eagles with 12 kills, one assist, one ace and 10 digs. Other top contributors included Katie Hoffpauir, 14 assists, one ace and nine digs; Hallie Autin, eight kills, one ace and six digs; Taylor Picou, one kill, 11 assists, one ace and one dig; Sydney Williams, four kills, three digs and two solo blocks; Brooke Lipari, one ace and five digs; and Yani Johnson, four solo blocks.
Central Catholic (9-5) will return to action Saturday when it faces De La Salle and Academy of Our Lady in a doubleheader at Academy of Our Lady. The Lady Eagles will face De La Salle at 10 a.m. and Academy of Our Lady at 11 a.m.
