Morgan City routs Thibodaux High, 14-0

The Morgan City Lady Tigers run-ruled Thibodaux, 14-0, in five innings in nondistrict action at Morgan City on Monday.
While Morgan City took a 1-0 lead after an inning, it exploded for 11 runs in the second inning.
Morgan City scored two more in the bottom of the fourth, and the game was called via the mercy rule in the fifth.
Morgan City outhit Thibodaux 9-3, and Morgan City walked six times.
Kennedy Hebert led Morgan City with a 3-for-3 performance with three RBIs, two stolen bases and three runs. Other top contributors included Gracie Verrett, 2-for-3, a triple, three RBIs and a run; Mckenzie Smith, 2-for-2, an RBI, a stolen base and three runs; Allie Vincent, an RBI, a stolen base and three runs; and Reilee Bailey and Mattie Rivere, each an RBI and a run.
Hebert earned the win for Morgan City as she tossed a complete-game three hitter. In five innings, she surrendered two walks and fanned five.
Morgan City (14-6) will close its regular season today when it travels to face Terrebonne in a nondistrict contest set for a 4 p.m. start.
North Vermilion run-rules Berwick
The Berwick Lady Panthers fell 13-1 in six innings to North Vermilion in softball action at Berwick on Monday.
While North Vermilion led just 3-1 after an inning, it scored two runs apiece in the third and fifth innings before erupting for six runs in the top of the sixth.
Berwick could not score in the bottom of the frame, ending the game via mercy rule.
North Vermilion, which came into the game ranked No. 2 in the latest Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 3A softball power rankings, outhit Berwick, 7-1.
The Lady Panthers committed six errors to North Vermilion’s three miscues.
Peytan Theriot suffered the loss for Berwick. In five innings, she surrendered seven runs on five hits with three walks.
Offensively, Madison Carline led Berwick with a 1-for-3 performance, while Jaci Arnold recorded the team’s lone RBI.
On Saturday, Berwick lost a heartbreaker at E.D. White in district play, 7-6.
While the Lady Panthers led 6-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth, E.D. White exploded for five runs for a 7-6 advantage.
Berwick could not counter in its final at bat.
The game was tied at 1 after an inning, and Berwick erupted for five runs in the third inning for a 6-1 advantage.
E.D. White cut its deficit to 6-2 in the bottom of the fourth.
E.D. White outhit Berwick 11-4.
Sydney Aucoin suffered the loss for Berwick. In a complete-game effort, she surrendered seven runs on 11 hits.
Aucoin led the Lady Panthers offensively as she finished 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs. Other top offensive contributors included Hannah Henry, 1-for-3, a triple and an RBI; Carline, 1-for-3, a double and an RBI; and Jordan Lipari, 1-for-3, a double.
On Friday, Berwick was run-ruled in district action at Erath, 13-4, in five innings.
Erath scored a combined 12 runs in its last two at bats for the big victory.
While Berwick led 1-0 after an inning and Erath tied the score at 1 in the bottom of the second, the home team scored four runs in the bottom of the third for a 5-1 advantage.
After Berwick cut its deficit to 5-2 in the top of the fourth, Erath scored eight runs in the bottom of the fourth for the final margin.
Erath outhit Berwick, 12-4.
Berwick committed four errors to Erath’s two.
Aucoin led Berwick with a 2-for-2 performance.
Berwick (10-14 overall, 5-7 in district) will return to action today when it hosts Central Catholic in its regular season finale. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
