Morgan City run-rules Patterson, 11-0

The Morgan City Tigers run-ruled the Patterson Lumberjacks 11-0 in six innings Monday.
Morgan City scored two runs in the first, four in the second, three in the fourth and two more in the sixth.
The Tigers pounded out 10 hits, while limiting the Lumberjacks to two.
Patterson also committed six errors, and just two of Morgan City’s runs were earned.
Rhett Fryou earned the win for Morgan City. In five innings, he surrendered a hit, two walks and fanned one. Grant Perry pitched an inning of relief.
Philip Hutchinson and John Ross McNemar led the Tigers offensively. Hutchinson finished 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and an RBI, while McNemar was 2-for-2 with a double, a triple and three RBIs. Other top contributors included Brady Fryou and Scott Comeaux, each 2-for-3 with an RBI; and Matt Lorenzo, 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
Sirbatian Charles took the loss for Patterson. In 1.1 innings, Charles surrendered six runs — two earned — on five hits with one walk and one strikeout.
Tyrik Singleton led the Lumberjacks with a 1-for-3 performance with a double.
Monday’s game was Senior Night for the Lumberjacks and also was Fan Appreciation Day.
On Saturday, Morgan City fell to Assumption, 4-3, in nine innings in both teams’ District 7-4A finale. Additionally, Morgan City also picked up a win when Livonia was forced to forfeit its game with Morgan City as well as 17 others due to use of an ineligible player, according to nola.com.
Both Morgan City (13-14) and Patterson (19-11) will be on the road in the first-round of the playoffs in Classes 4A and 3A, respectively. Prep playoff brackets will be released today.
Berwick run-rules
Hanson
The Berwick Panthers run-ruled Hanson, 15-5, in six innings on Senior Night Monday.
Berwick responded from a 2-0 deficit in the top of the first inning with five runs in the bottom of the second and two more in the bottom of the third for a 7-1 advantage.
After Hanson cut its deficit to 7-5 in the top of the third, the Panthers scored the next eight runs, including four in the bottom of the third. The game was called due to the mercy rule after Berwick plated a run in the bottom of the sixth inning via Austin Spencer’s solo home run.
Berwick outhit Hanson 16-2.
Nick Duthu led the Panthers with a 3-for-3 performance with three doubles and five RBIs, while Neal Theriot was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs; and Brooks Richard, 3-for-4, an RBI. Other top contributors included Spencer, 2-for-3, a home run, an RBI; Justin Morvant, 2-for-3, two RBIs; Brandon Hampton, 1-for-1, an RBI; and Bobby Boudreaux, 1-for-4, an RBI.
Berwick’s pitching trio of Daniel Gray, Brannon Melancon and Tim Shelby limited the Tigers to two hits.
Gray earned the win. In two innings, he surrendered two runs — one earned — on a hit and walked one.
In three innings of relief, Melancon surrendered three runs — one earned — on a hit with two walks, one hit batter and five strikeouts.
Just two of Hanson’s five runs were earned as Berwick was plagued by errors with six in the contest.
Berwick (17-10) now will await its playoff seeding, which will be announced today.
Central Catholic falls
to Westgate
The Central Catholic Eagles dropped their regular season finale on Senior Night to Westgate, 6-3, in Amelia Monday.
Westgate scored two runs in the top of the first inning, while Central Catholic responded with a run in the bottom of the first and another in the bottom of the second to tie the game.
Westgate took the lead with a run in the third, while the Tigers plated two runs in the fourth.
The Tigers added another run in the top of the seventh.
Westgate outhit Central Catholic 10-5, while Central Catholic left 11 runners on base, nine of those in scoring position.
Charlie Barron finished 1-for-1 with an RBI for the Eagles, while Matthew Barbier and Barron Courtney each finished 1-for-4 with a double. Tyler Hoffpauir added an RBI.
Patrick Barron suffered the loss. In two innings, he surrendered one earned run on two hits with two walks and fanned four.
Monday’s game was halted for a few minutes when the lights in right field as well as some along the first base side went out in the top of the sixth inning and flickered for the remainder of the game.
The Eagles (23-4) now will await their playoff seeding when the brackets are released today. Central Catholic will be at home in the first round.
