Morgan City soccer teams split contests

The Morgan City soccer teams split their matches with Beau Chene on the road Tuesday.
While the Lady Tigers topped Beau Chene 3-1, the Tigers fell 8-1 to the Beau Chene boys, ranked No. 1 in Division 2.
In the Lady Tigers’ contest, Morgan City scored fast after Celeste Williams took a pass from Sarah Patterson for a goal.
However, Morgan City couldn’t muster anymore scoring until the second half, again on a Patterson-to-Williams connection, before Patterson scored the final goal.
In the boys’ contest, Beau Chene scored first in the third minute before Morgan City countered two minutes later when Daniel Alvarado took a pass from Sergize Flores and connected on a goal.
However, mistakes doomed the Tigers during the remainder of the contest as Beau Chene responded with seven unanswered goals.
Both teams will play at home Friday with Morgan City’s boys (4-4-2) playing Terrebonne at 5 p.m. before Morgan City’s girls (7-7) will follow against St. Michael the Archangel.
