Morgan City squads sweep Berwick at hoops jamboree

Morgan City’s boys’ and girls’ basketball teams swept Berwick at West St. Mary’s hoops jamboree Thursday.
In boys’ action, the Tigers had to rally but came away with a 36-22 win, while in the girls’ contest, Morgan City won 48-13.
In the boys’ game, Morgan City outscored Berwick 30-8 in the second half to take the win after trailing 14-6 at the half.
Jaylen Jones led Morgan City with 12 points, while Brady Fryou scored eight. Other top contributors included Kolbi Chatman and Tay Green with four points apiece.
Brandon Naverro led Berwick with seven points, while Audwin Williams added six. Other top contributors included Tyvon Batiste, four points; and Tim Shelby, three.
In the girls’ contest, Casey Chenevert led Morgan City with 25 points, while Laqwajhia Bourgeois added 12 points. Other top contributors included Elicia Dorsey with four points and Meya Morse, three.
