Morgan City sweeps Patterson in volleyball
Morgan City High School swept Patterson 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-16) in nondistrict volleyball action Monday in Morgan City.
Morgan City had 12 aces, 31 kills and 72 digs in the win.
Kennedy Hebert had two aces, 13 kills and 14 digs to lead Morgan City.
Other top contributors included Allie Vincent, three aces, 14 assists and 10 digs; Abby Reynaud, one ace, 13 assists and four digs; Mackenzie Smith, two aces, five kills, and 12 digs; Alex Thompson, six kills, one block, one assist and two digs; Dwanna LeBeau, two aces, six kills, one block and eight digs; Katelyn Gautreaux, 13 digs; and Brandi Albarado, two aces and eight digs.
Patterson had nine blocks in the loss.
Arian Grogan led the squad with two aces, four kills, six blocks and one assist.
Other top contributors included Erykah Singleton, three kills and three blocks; Katelyn Larson, five digs; and Tapanga Haven, four assists.
In junior varsity action, Morgan City won 25-19, 25-22.
Morgan City had 10 aces in the win.
Reynaud had four aces, one kill, four assists and six digs for Morgan City, while Sh’Diamond Holly had five kills.

On Saturday, Morgan City fell to Houma Christian 3-1 (29-27, 13-25, 19-25, 13-25) and Ascension Catholic 3-0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-16).
Against Houma Christian, Morgan City had 11 blocks and 75 digs.
Hebert had 13 kills, four blocks and nine digs, while Thompson had five kills, four blocks and two digs.

Morgan City (10-17) will return to District 8-III action Thursday when it travels to face Vandebilt Catholic. Vandebilt Catholic is ranked No. 6 in the latest Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division III power rankings, while Morgan City is No. 21.
Last Wednesday, Patterson fell to West St. Mary 3-1 (12-25, 25-14, 14-25, 10-25) in District 2-IV action in Baldwin.
Patterson had 14 aces.
Grogan led the Lumberjills with five aces, five kills, one block and one assist, while Madison Paul added five aces and two kills.
Other top contributors included Josie Merida and Katelyn Larson, each five assists.
Patterson will return to district action today when it hosts Notre Dame of Crowley, who is ranked No. 4 in Division IV, while Patterson is ranked No. 19.
CCHS falls to
Ascension Catholic
Ascension Catholic knocked off Central Catholic 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-23) in nondistrict action Monday in Morgan City.
Hallie Autin led the Lady Eagles with 11 kills and 14 digs.
Other top contributors included Quincee Wiggins, six kills; Brooke Lipari, a career high 21 digs; Yani Johnson, three blocks; Taylor Picou, 10 assists; and Katie Hoffpauir, eight assists.
Ascension Catholic entered the game ranked No. 4 in Division V.
Last week, Central Catholic defeated West St. John Thursday and St. John of Plaquemine Wednesday.
Against West St. John, the Lady Eagles won 3-0 (25-7, 25-15, 25-9).
No individual statistics were available.
In the win against St. John, Central Catholic was victorious 3-0 (25-11, 25-21, 25-21).
Autin led Central Catholic with eight kills, 10 digs and two aces, while Johnson had four kills and five blocks.
Other top contributors included Wiggins, four kills and eight digs; Hoffpauir, 12 assists; and Lipari, nine digs.
Central Catholic (15-19) will return to District 6-V action today when it travels to face Houma Christian. Houma Christian is ranked No. 7 in the latest Division V power rankings, while Central Catholic is No. 14.
Berwick finishes 2-3 at
the tournament.
The Lady Panthers schedule featured some of the better teams in their respective classes as Berwick faced Division I top 10 teams Barbe (No. 4) and Slidell (No. 10) as well as Division IV top four teams in Notre Dame (No. 4) and Academy of Sacred Heart of New Orleans (No. 3).
They also faced Runnels.
Berwick, ranked No. 17 in Division III, upset Barbe but fell to Notre Dame, Slidell and Academy of Sacred Heart. They topped Runnels.
Against Barbe, Berwick won 2-1 (25-23, 16-25, 15-11).
Berwick had eight aces in the win.
Ashton Morales had 11 kills, one block, one set and 13 digs, while Sydney Aucoin recorded three aces, six kills, one block and nine digs.
Other top contributors included Mary Jordan Melancon, one kill, one block, nine assists and 10 digs; Brittany Roberie, two aces and 11 digs; Madeleine Hover, one kill, four assists and five digs; and Alyssa Gray, three aces, three kills and one dig.
Against Notre Dame, Berwick fell 2-0 (25-13, 25-9).
Morales had five kills, five assists and two digs, while Roberie had eight digs.

Against Slidell, Berwick fell 2-1 (16-25, 25-21, 3-15).
