Morgan City High School will try to slay a giant today when they travel to take on Division 3’s top seed, Teurlings Catholic, in the regional round of the prep volleyball postseason.

While the Lady Tigers, the No. 16 seed, enter the regional round following a 25-14, 25-17, 25-16 win against No. 17 Evangel Christian Academy on Thursday in the bi-district round.

Teurlings Catholic (35-4) received a bye in the first round.

“They make you defend from pin to pin and don’t give up on anything,” Morgan City coach Christy Theriot said of today’s opponent.

To have a chance to win today, Theriot said her squad would have to pass well, limit their unforced errors and connect on kills.

“To be (to) able run some sort of fast-paced offense, we need to pass well,” she said. “Consistent tough serving will also be important.”

Morgan City and Teurlings have several opponents in common this year, including the Lady Tigers’ district foes, No. 2 ranked E.D. White, No. 4 ranked Lutcher and No. 11 Berwick; as well as Division 5’s third-
