Mustangs hold off Hornets

Franklin slipped to 3-2 on the season following Tuesday’s 64-54 setback at the hands of the Assumption Mustangs at the FSHS Gym.
Franklin opened the season with a 50-49 win over the Rayne Wolves before pulling out a pair of wins in the Morgan City Tiger Classic Basketball Tournament.
Franklin, which finished in third place in the Morgan City Tiger Classic, claimed victories over South LaFourche (68-62) and Jeanerette (86-49) while suffering a nail-biting 53-52 loss to the Thibodaux Tigers.
The Assumption Mustangs earned a hard-fought 64-54 win over the Hornets on Tuesday.
DeAndre Charles led the Hornets in scoring with 15 points while Jarion Brown and J. Kelly fired in 10 points each.
Charles tossed in 27 points in the win over Jeanerette.
Franklin (3-2) will take on the Houma Christian Warriors in the annual Tourney of the Teche round robin on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
