Patterson edges South Terrebonne

Patterson High School edged South Terrebonne, 44-43, in girls’ basketball action Tuesday.
Alex Benjamin led Patterson with 11 points, one rebound and four steals.
Teammate Gaylen Grogan also reached double figures with 10 points as well as three rebounds, one steal and three blocks.
Other top contributors for Patterson included Nakia Brooks, nine points, one rebound, two assists and one steal; Jazmin Evans, six points, one rebound, two steals and one block; Makayla Ruiz, four points and two rebounds; Erykah Singleton, two points, two rebounds and one block; and Kemprielle Williams, two points.
Patterson (4-1) will return to action Thursday when it begins play in Centerville’s Tournament of the Teche with a 3:30 p.m. contest against Houma Christian.
West Jefferson routs
Central Catholic
West Jefferson routed Central Catholic, 59-9, in girls’ basketball action Tuesday.
West Jefferson jumped out to a 12-0 lead after the first quarter and extended its lead to 35-5 at the half.
Central Catholic was outscored 18-0 in the third quarter for a 53-5 deficit, while West Jefferson edged Central Catholic 6-4 in the scoring column in the fourth period.
Hallie Autin led Central Catholic with five points and two rebounds, while Mary Beth Blanchard added two points and Sydney Williams, two points and two rebounds.
Central Catholic (1-1) will return to action Friday when it opens play in Centerville’s Tournament of the Teche with a 3:30 p.m. contest against Morgan City.
