Patterson run-rules St. James, 16-5

The Patterson Lumberjacks run-ruled St. James, 16-5, in five innings in baseball action at Patterson Monday.
The Lumberjacks were led by senior Bryce Beaubouef, who went 4-for-4 with seven RBIs and was a triple shy of hitting for the cycle. He finished with two doubles, a home run and four runs.
While St. James took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, Patterson responded with six runs in the bottom of the first and 10 more combined during the next three innings for a 16-1 lead.
Although St. James plated four runs in the top of the fifth, it wasn’t enough to keep the game from ending via the mercy rule.
Patterson outhit St. James, 14-5, in the win.
Other top contributors besides Beaubouef included his brother, Brad Beaubouef, 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run; Brennan Gouaux, 2-for-3, three runs and a stolen base; Jamey Fabre, 2-for-3, three runs; Blake Dreyer, 1-for-3, three RBIs; Tyrik Singleton, 1-for-3, a double, an RBI and two runs; Joel Singleton, 1-for-4, an RBI, a stolen base and a run; and Christian Soria, 1-for-3, an RBI and a run.
Sirbatian Charles earned the win for Patterson as he tossed a two-hitter in four innings of work. He surrendered one unearned run, three walks and fanned six.
Patterson (4-4) is scheduled to return to action Thursday when it plays in a 5:40 p.m. contest against Ascension Catholic in Central Catholic’s baseball tournament in Amelia. Ascension Catholic was a Class 1A quarterfinalist in 2015.
Central Catholic defeats
North Vermilion
Central Catholic used a seven-run fourth inning to overtake North Vermilion for a 9-6 victory at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field Monday.
Trailing 5-1 heading into the top of the fourth, the Eagles erupted for seven runs to take an 8-5 lead.
While North Vermilion added a run in the bottom of the fifth, Central Catholic countered with a run in the top of the sixth.
North Vermilion led 2-1 after an inning, while the Patriots scored three runs in the bottom of the third for a 5-1 lead.
In the win, Central Catholic left 10 runners on base, while North Vermilion stranded nine.
Gregory Leger earned the win. In five innings, he surrendered six runs — two earned — on eight hits with four walks, four hit batters and four strikeouts.
Offensively, Mitchell Lemoine finished 1-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and a run for the Eagles. Other top contributors included Blake Hidalgo, 2-for-3, two RBIs and a run; Thomas Garber, 2-for-4, an RBI and a run; Stefano Guarisco, 2-for-4, a stolen base and two runs; Patrick Barron, 2-for-3, a run; and Adam Dupuis, 1-for-5, an RBI and a run.
Central Catholic (6-1) is scheduled to return to action Thursday when it faces Central Lafourche at 7:45 p.m. in first-day action at Central Catholic’s baseball tournament.
Zachary edges Morgan City
Morgan City went toe-to-toe with Class 5A power Zachary but the Broncos pulled out a 4-3 victory in baseball action at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux Monday.
Zachary scored a run in the fourth inning and each team scored three runs in the fifth.
Logan Tingle suffered the loss for Morgan City. In four innings, he surrendered four earned runs on six hits with four walks and fanned seven.
Tingle, one of three pitchers used along with Joseph Doiron and Rhett Fryou, combined for 14 strikeouts.
Colby Glatter finished 2-for-3 for Morgan City with a stolen base and a run. Other top contributors included Philip Hutchinson, 1-for-3, a double and an RBI; and Malik Phillips, 1-for-3, an RBI and a run.
At this weekend’s Berwick High School Panther Classic, Morgan City split its games Friday, run-ruling St. James 15-0 in five innings and falling to E.D. White, 9-3, while on Saturday, the Tigers came from behind to defeat Lutcher.
Against St. James, Morgan City scored in every at bat, plating four runs in the first, five each in the second and third innings and another in the fourth.
Morgan City outhit the Wildcats, 12-2, led by Josh Lorenzo’s 1-for-3 performance with a grand slam, five RBIs and a run.
Other top hitters included Glatter, 2-for-2, a double, a triple and two RBIs; Hutchinson, 1-for-2, a triple, an RBI, a stolen base and a run; Fryou, 1-for-2, a double, an RBI, a stolen base and two runs; Phillips, 2-for-2, three stolen bases and three runs; Abram Hartley, 2-for-3, a stolen base and two runs; Evan Stadalis, 1-for-1, an RBI, two stolen bases and three runs; and Caleb Landry, 1-for-2, an RBI.

Against E.D. White, the Cardinals scored a run in the top of the first, and Morgan City tied it with a run in the bottom of the frame.
However, E.D. White scored eight runs during the next three innings for a 9-1 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth.
Morgan City scored a run in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings.
E.D. White, a Class 3A quarterfinalist in 2015, outhit Morgan City 10-4.
However, of E.D. White’s nine runs, just three were earned.
Doiron suffered the loss for Morgan City. In 2.1 innings, he surrendered three runs — one earned — on three hits with three walks and fanned two.
Offensively, Landry finished 1-for-3 with an RBI for Morgan City, while Hartley was 1-for-4 with an RBI.
On Saturday, Stadalis knocked in the game-winning run on a single to left field in the bottom of the seventh as Morgan City topped Lutcher, 4-3.
Stadalis, whose mother Molly Stadalis is the principal at Lutcher High, finished the game 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Morgan City did all of its damage in the last two innings, tying the game in the bottom of the sixth with three runs before the walk-off win in the bottom of the seventh.
Lutcher took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first and scored another run in the fifth.
Morgan City outhit Lutcher 7-6.
Lorenzo finished 2-for-2 with two stolen bases to lead Morgan City. Other top offensive contributors included Phillips, 2-for-3 with two runs; Stadalis, 1-for-3, an RBI; and Fryou, two RBIs.
Morquisse Charles earned the complete-game victory. In seven innings, he surrendered three earned runs on six hits with two walks, two hit batters and seven strikeouts.
Morgan City (3-6) will return to action today when it hosts St. Michael the Archangel today at 6:30 p.m. St. Michael the Archangel was a Class 4A state semifinalist in 2015.
Berwick falls to
Central Lafourche
The Berwick Panthers fell to Central Lafourche, 6-5, in baseball action in Raceland Monday.
No individual stats were available.
Berwick (3-7) is scheduled to return to action Friday when takes on Covington in Chalmette’s tournament.
