Patterson tops Berwick

Patterson pulled away from Berwick in the second half en route to a 61-45 District 8-3A victory in Berwick Friday.
While Berwick led 24-23 at the half, Patterson outscored Berwick a combined 38-21 in the second half for the victory.
Patterson led 41-35 after three quarters before outscoring Berwick 20-10 in the final eight minutes.
Berwick led 14-11 after the first quarter, while Patterson outscored Berwick 12-10 in the second quarter.
Nehemiah Augustus led Patterson with 21 points, while Taylan Grogan also reached double figures with 18 points.
Other scorers included Jordan Butler and Tyric Garrett, six points apiece; D.J. Jones, four; and Kenneth Washington, Dajon Richard and Khyri Harris, two each.
Silton Span led Berwick with 13 points, while Donald Tillman also reached double figures with 12.
Other scorers included Audwin Williams and Larenz Clark, nine apiece; and Cody Roberie, two.
Berwick (16-12 overall, 5-4 in District 8-3A) returns to action today when it travels to face Kaplan in a District 8-3A contest set for approximately 6:30 p.m.
Patterson (17-4, 8-0) will host E.D. White Tuesday in a key District 8-3A contest. Junior varsity boys action is set for a 5:15 p.m. start, while girls varsity will follow at approximately 6:15 p.m. and boys varsity at around 7:15 p.m.

Highland Baptist
Central Catholic eased past Highland Baptist, 61-31, in District 7-1A action in New Iberia Friday.
Elijah Swan led three Eagles in double figures with 20 points, while Jalen Johnson and Brooks Thomas each scored 13.
Other scorers for the Eagles included Tanner Wiggins and Blake Byrne, five apiece; and Seth Williams, four.
Central Catholic (8-12, 6-4) will return to action today when it travels to face Vermilion Catholic in Abbeville in a District 7-1A contest set to begin at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Ellender routs
Morgan City
Ellender High School outscored Morgan City in every quarter en route to an easy 104-69 victory in District 7-4A action in Houma Thursday.
Ellender led 29-21 after a quarter, 54-41 at the half and 74-55 after three quarters.
The Patriots connected on 15 three-pointers and had seven players reach double figures.
Makye Richard led Morgan City with 20 points, while Taaj Daniels also reached double figures with 12.
Other scorers included Ke’sean Francois and Lloyd Singleton, nine each; Jared Singleton, five; Abram Hartley and DeAndre Long, four apiece; and Ethan Nguyen, Zion Landry and Clifton Escort, two apiece.
Morgan City (14-13, 3-4) will return to action Wednesday when it hosts South Terrebonne in District 7-4A action Wednesday in a contest set to begin at approximately 7 p.m.
