Rain washes out today's action at CCHS baseball tournament

Due to rain in the area, today, the first day of Central Catholic’s annual baseball tournament, has been cancelled, Central Catholic
coach Tyler Jensen announced Wednesday.
Jensen said a revised schedule will be released.
With the cancellation means no area baseball games will be played today as Patterson, Morgan City and Central Catholic all were scheduled to compete today in Central Catholic’s tournament.
Also, Berwick was scheduled to open play in Chalmette’s tournament Friday and also play Saturday, but Coach Mike Thomas said today the tournament has been pushed back a day and his team now will play Saturday and Sunday. The tournament schedule is being revised, and the Panthers may not play their originally scheduled games against Mandeville, Thibodaux and John Ehret.
In softball action, Berwick’s contest with Brusly set for today has been rescheduled for March 25 at at 5 p.m. in Brusly.
Also, Morgan City’s district opener at Ellender has been postponed as well as Central Catholic’s District 7-1A opener against Highland Baptist.
Rain also hampered area baseball and softball action Tuesday.
Games not played included softball contests between Morgan City and Patterson in Patterson and Central Catholic’s District 7-1A opener at home with Gueydan.
In baseball, Central Catholic’s home contest with Comeaux as well as Patterson’s road matchup with Bonnabel and Berwick’s
home contest against Riverside all were postponed.
While Berwick softball wanted to play its originally scheduled home game on the road at St. John of Plaquemine, that game was canceled as well, due to rain.
The only makeup dates that have been announced are the Riverside-Berwick contest, the Patterson- Bonnabel game and the Morgan City-Patterson softball game.
Berwick-Riverside now will be played March 27 at 4:30 p.m., while Patterson-Bonnabel has been moved to April 8 with junior varsity
set for 4 p.m. and varsity to follow at 6:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Patterson-Morgan City softball matchup now will be played April 1 at Patterson.
