Robichaux Ford defeats Taco Bell 5-2 at Swampland tournament

Taco Bell jumped out early, but Robicheaux Ford responded quickly and never trailed again en route to a 5-2 victory in quarterfinal action of the Swampland baseball tournament in Berwick Wednesday.
Berwick High-based Taco Bell plated a run in the top of the first, but Vandebilt Catholic-based Robichaux Ford responded with three unearned runs in the bottom of the frame.
Robichaux Ford extended its lead to 5-2 after plating two more runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Taco Bell managed a run in its last at bat.
Despite the loss, Taco Bell outhit Robichaux Ford 7-6.
“We threw too many balls and left too many runners on base,” Taco Bell head coach Mike Thomas said. “Just could not get the timely hit.”
Grant Oubre suffered the loss for Taco Bell. In 4.1 innings, he surrendered five runs — two earned — on two hits with four walks, one hit batter and five strikeouts.
Logan Angeron led Taco Bell offensively with a 3-for-4 performance with an RBI, while Bradley Gray finished 1-for-3 with an RBI.
Taco Bell finished its Swampland season with a 7-7 mark.
“We were proud of the effort our players made throughout the summer,” Thomas said. “We, as coaches, believe this next spring will be a productive one for the team.”
Robichaux Ford will advance to play Division A’s top seed, Synergy Bank (E.D. White) today in a semifinal contest set for 7 p.m., while the Braves (H.L. Bourgeois), who defeated Jester’s Court (Central Lafourche) in other quarterfinal action Tuesday, will meet BCG Services, Division B’s top seed, today at 5 p.m. in the other semifinal contest.
