Skipper's for Sports falls to Crawdaddy's Seafood, 7-5

Skipper’s for Sports fell to Crawdaddy’s Seafood, 7-5, in Swampland baseball action on the road Monday.
While Skipper’s (Morgan City) took a 2-1 lead after its second-inning at bat, Crawdaddy’s Seafood (Houma Christian) scored two runs in the bottom of the second for a 3-2 lead.
Although Crawdaddy’s took a 5-2 lead after four innings, Skipper’s countered with two runs in the top of the fifth and another in the top of the sixth for a 6-5 advantage.
However, Crawdaddy’s responded with two runs in its final at bat for the victory.
Crawdaddy’s outhit Skipper’s, 9-6.
Gage Hirschmann suffered the complete-game loss. In 6.2 innings, he surrendered seven runs — five earned — on nine hits with one walk and four strikeouts.
Offensively, Ross Albritton led Skipper’s with a 2-for-4 performance with a double, a triple, two RBIs and a run. Other top offensive contributors included Joseph Doiron, 1-for-1, a home run, an RBI and a run; Ethan Nguyen, 1-for-1, an RBI and a run; and Logan Tingle, an RBI.
Skipper’s (3-7) will return to action today when it hosts Terrebonne. Junior varsity action is set for a 5 p.m. start with varsity to follow at 7 p.m.
In last week’s 10-2 junior varsity victory against Halimar Shipyard (Central Catholic), Skipper’s winning pitcher was omitted. Seth Canty earned the complete-game victory as he tossed a three-hitter. In five innings, he surrendered two unearned runs with three strikeouts.
Other Swampland games rained out
Halimar Shipyard’s contest with Taco Bell (Berwick) and TrimCo Millwork and Supply’s (Patterson) contest with Synergy Bank (E.D. White) Monday were rained out.
Halimar and Taco Bell will play Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Berwick in a varsity-only contest. The junior varsity game Monday between the two schools was complete.
Meanwhile, the TrimCo Millwork/Synergy Bank contest will not be made up.
TrimCo Millwork will travel today to face Taco Bell. Junior varsity action is set for a 5 p.m. start with varsity to follow at 7 p.m.
Halimar will hit the road today to face Praxair (H.L. Bourgeois). Junior varsity action is set for a 3:30 p.m. start with varsity to follow at 5:30 p.m.
