Swampland League tourney begins Wednesday
The Swampland League’s annual end-of-the-year tournament will be held, beginning Wednesday, in Berwick.
The tournament features the top six teams from the regular season and will conclude with a championship game Friday.
While the seeding will be finalized tonight, thus far, Jester’s Court (Central Lafourche), Synergy Bank (E.D. White), Halimar Shipyard (Central Catholic) and the Diamondbacks (Terrebonne) all have qualified for the postseason tournament, Taco Bell coach Mike Thomas said.
Skipper’s Sporting Goods (Morgan City), Taco Bell (Berwick) and South Louisiana Bank (South Terrebonne) all are fighting for the No. 5 and 6 spot, Thomas said. Skipper’s will play at the Bayou Boys (South Lafourche) tonight, while Taco Bell and South Louisiana Bank will meet in Bourg today.
In the league’s tournament, the top two teams will receive a bye, while in individual games, the higher seeded teams will receive a bye. In the championship game, the home team will be determined by coin flip.
Wednesday’s action will begin with the sixth seed taking on the third seed at 5 p.m., followed by the fifth seed facing the fourth seed at 7 p.m.
Thursday, the winner between seeds 6 and 3 will face the second seed at 5 p.m., while the winner of seeds 5 and 4 will play the tournament’s top seed at 7 p.m.
The winners of the Thursday games will meet Friday at 5 p.m.
