Taco Bell defeats the Mustangs 3-0
Taco Bell (Berwick) defeated the Mustangs (Assumption) 3-0 in a makeup game Wednesday.
Taco Bell scored single runs in the first, fourth and sixth innings.
Hits were few as Taco Bell recorded four and the Mustangs, three.
Bradley Gray led Taco Bell with a 3-for-3 performance with two RBIs, while Cameron Wiley was 1-for-2.
Wiley earned the win for Taco Bell. In 5.2 innings, he surrendered three hits and fanned two.
D.J. Robicheaux earned the save for Taco Bell. In 1.1 innings, he fanned one.
In junior varsity action, Taco Bell won 8-5.
Lucas Hatch earned the win
Offensively, Ty Duthu finished 1-for-2 with a double and three RBIs, while Kyle Pitre was 2-for-2. Other contributors included Ian Valdez, Patrick Robertson and Kyle Boudreaux, all 1-for-2.
Taco Bell (4-3) will return to action today at home when it faces Jester’s Court (Central Lafourche). Junior varsity action is set for a 5 p.m. start with varsity to follow at 7 p.m.
Errors sink Halimar
in loss
Halimar had trouble defensively in a 13-7 loss to the Diamondbacks (Terrebonne) Wednesday in Amelia.
The Central Catholic-based team committed seven errors and just two of its runs were earned.
The Halimar pitching staff combined for six walks in the contest.
The Diamondbacks never trailed, jumping out to as much as an 8-0 lead after its fourth-inning at bat.
Halimar Shipyard cut the deficit to 8-4 after its fourth inning at bat, but the Diamondbacks responded with four runs in the top of the fifth for a 12-4 advantage.
After Halimar scored two runs in the bottom of the frame, each team scored one more run, the Diamondbacks in the sixth and Halimar in the bottom of the seventh.
The Diamondbacks outhit Halimar 11-9.
Mitchell Lemoine led Halimar with a 2-for-3 performance with a double and three RBIs; Patrick Barron, 2-for-3, two RBIs and two runs; and Matthew Barbier, 2-for-3, two doubles, a stolen base and two runs.
Other contributors included Charlie Barron, 1-for-4, a run; Sage Thibodeaux, 1-for-2, two runs; Samuel Guarisco, 1-for-3; and Stefano Guarisco, an RBI.
Blake Hidalgo suffered the loss for Halimar. In four innings, he surrendered eight runs — one earned — on seven hits with one walk and one strikeout.
Halimar (5-2) will return to action today when it hosts the Mustangs (Assumption).
The Braves edge
Skipper’s
The Braves edged Skipper’s For Sports 9-8 in Swampland League action Wednesday.
Brady Fryou led Morgan City High-based Skipper’s at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance with two RBIs, while Phillip Hutchinson was 2-for-2 with two doubles.
Other contributors included Matt Lorenzo, 1-for-3, an RBI; Rhett Fryou, 2-for-2; Josh Lorenzo, 1-for-3; and Evan Stadalis, two RBIs.
Rhett Fryou suffered the loss in relief for Skipper’s. In three innings, he surrendered seven runs — all earned — on five hits with two walks and fanned three.
In junior varsity action, Skipper’s fell 6-5.
In Tuesday’s 14-1 loss to Halimar, Brady Fryou was 1-for-2 with a triple and an RBI for Skipper’s, while Phillip Hutchinson was 2-for-2 with a run.
John Ross McNemar took the loss for Skipper’s after pitching two innings.
Skipper’s (4-3) will return to action today when it hosts Trinity Tools (Covenant Christian). Junior varsity action will begin at 5 p.m. and varsity will follow at 7 p.m.
