Thomas tosses one-hitter as CCHS run-rules Patterson

Central Catholic run-ruled Patterson, 11-1, in five innings in the lone local game played at Central Catholic’s softball tournament.
While originally Saturday’s games were to be played after the first day of play was rained out, the schedule was revised.
In Saturday’s contest, Central Catholic never trailed, taking a 2-0 lead after two innings.
While Patterson cut its deficit to 2-1 in the top of the third, the Lady Eagles responded with five runs in the bottom of the frame and two runs each in the fourth and fifth innings to end the game via the 10-run mercy rule.
Central Catholic’s Sarah Thomas earned the win. In five innings of work, she tossed a one hitter with seven strikeouts.
The Lady Eagles pounded out 18 hits in the win, including three triples and an inside-the-park home run.
Hallie Autin led the squad with a 3-for-3 performance with a triple, a home run, three RBIs and two runs. Other top offensive contributors included Kelly Russo, 3-for-3, a triple, an RBI and a run; Jordan Morvant, 3-for-3, an RBI; Taylor Picou, 2-for-3, two RBIs, a run; Kaleigh Navarro, 2-for-3, a run;
Brooke Lipari, 2-for-4, a triple, two RBIs, two runs; Emma Aucoin, 2-for-4, a stolen base, two runs; and Cameron McDaniel, 1-for-3, an RBI, a run.
No individual statistics were available for Patterson.
Patterson (3-5 overall, 2-1 in district) will return to action Tuesday when it hosts Berwick in a 4 p.m. contest.
Central Catholic (5-6 overall, 2-1 in district) will return to action Tuesday when it travels to face Lafayette Christian in a 4 p.m. contest at Pelican Park.
Also, Central Catholic’s make-up game with Centerville, originally scheduled for today, has been moved to Wednesday at Centerville at 4:30 p.m.
Berwick finishes 0-2 at tournament
The Berwick Lady Panthers finished 0-2 this weekend at Teurlings Catholic’s tournament, falling to Comeaux, 9-4, and were run-ruled by St. Thomas More, 13-1, in six innings.
Against Comeaux, Jordan Lipari suffered the loss.
Offensively, Berwick had eight hits, all singles, led by Lipari’s 2-for-3 performance. Other top hitters included Jaci Arnold, 2-for-4; Sydney Aucoin, 1-for-3, an RBI; Madison Carline and Mary Jordan Melancon, each 1-for-4 with an RBI; and Madelyn Gros, an RBI.
Against St. Thomas More, Lipari suffered the loss.
Offensively, Berwick was limited to three singles. Carline finished 1-for-2, while Aucoin and Arnold each were 1-for-3.
Berwick (5-6) will return to action Tuesday when it plays at Patterson in a 4 p.m. District 8-3A contest.
MCHS softball game rescheduled
Morgan City’s District 7-4A rain out at Ellender has been rescheduled.
The game will be played Wednesday at 4 p.m. in Houma.
Morgan City will return to action first this week when it hosts South Terrebonne Tuesday in a District 7- 4A contest set for a 6 p.m. start.
