Tigers down Assumption, 66-56

Morgan City jumped out to a big first-half lead en route to a 66-56 victory against Assumption in District 7-4A action at Morgan City Friday.
The Tigers led 12-6 after a quarter of play and extended their lead to 29-12 at halftime. The Tigers led 47-32 after three complete.
Morgan City made five three-pointers, while Assumption connected on six.
Tywaun Walker led Morgan City with 15 points, while Ke’Sean Francois and Deondre Grogan each scored 12. Other Morgan City scorers included Makye Richard, nine; Taaj Daniels, five; Jared Singleton and Morrquise Charles, four each; Kerwin Francois, three; and Ronnell Williams, two.
Morgan City (13-8 overall, 3-2 in district) will return to action Tuesday when it travels to face South Lafourche in district play. Junior varsity action is set for a 5 p.m. start with varsity girls and varsity boys play to follow.
Berwick defeats
Franklin
The Berwick Panthers defeated the Franklin Hornets, 60-38, in District 8-3A action at Franklin Friday.
Berwick raced out to a 19-4 lead after a quarter and extended its lead to 36-18 at halftime and 52-25 after three quarters.
Larenz Clark led Berwick with 14 points, while Cody Roberie scored 12 and Travis Whitehead, 10. Other Berwick scorers included Donald Tillman, seven; Dayton Clark, six; Patrick Robertson, five; Tysin Meads, four; and Collin Louviere, two.
Berwick (16-10, 5-2) will continue District 8-3A action at home Tuesday when it faces Erath. Varsity boys’ action will begin at 7 p.m.
LCA routs CCHS
Lafayette Christian eased by Central Catholic, 84-41, in District 7-1A action in Lafayette Friday.
Lafayette Christian led 23-12 after a period of play, 41-22 at halftime and 72-30 after three quarters.
No individual Central Catholic stats were submitted.
Lafayette Christian entered the game ranked No. 1 in the latest Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division IV power rankings, while Central Catholic is ranked No. 7.
Central Catholic (8-9, 4-4) will return to action Tuesday when it travels to face Centerville in a District 7-1A contest.
Patterson falls to
David Thibodaux
The Patterson Lumberjacks’ six-game winning streak was snapped Friday as Patterson fell at David Thibodaux, 65-55, in nondistrict action.
David Thibodaux came into the game ranked No. 5 in the latest Division III Louisiana High School Athletic Association power rankings, while Patterson was ranked No. 13 in Class 3A.
No individual Patterson stats were submitted.
Patterson (11-8) will return to District 8-3A action Tuesday when it hosts Kaplan in a 7 p.m. contest.
