Tigers split weekend games; Lady Tigers fall

The Morgan City Tigers split their weekend action, defeating Terrebonne Saturday, 3-0, after dropping their final District 7-II contest of the season to Vandebilt Catholic Friday, 2-0.
In Saturday’s win, the Tigers got goals from Miguel Perez, Carlos Calderon and Wilmer Lopez.
On Friday against Vandebilt Catholic, Morgan City coach Trevor Patterson said Vandebilt had more possessions and chances than the Tigers, but the Morgan City squad made stops.
The Terriers’ two goals came via corner kicks.
“Both were off of our mistakes not getting to the ball,” Patterson said.
The Tigers (10-8-3 overall, 3-5 in district) now will await their playoff seeding when the brackets are released Wednesday. The Tigers likely will be at home in the first round.
Vandebilt Catholic defeats Lady Tigers
The Morgan City Lady Tigers dropped their regular season finale Friday when they fell to Vandebilt Catholic, 7-0, in Houma.
Vandebilt scored early with a goal in the first five minutes.
Vandebilt Catholic scored two more goals in the first half for a 3-0 halftime advantage.
Vandebilt Catholic scored four more goals in the second half.
“In the second half we made some formation changes, just trying different players in some other positions for next (week’s) playoffs,” Patterson said.
The Lady Tigers (5-11-6, 2-4-2) will learn their playoff seeding when brackets are released Tuesday. The Lady Tigers likely will be on the road in the first round.
