Tournament action at Patterson

Patterson High School doubled Morgan City’s 62-31 score Thursday night in boys’ basketball played at the tournament hosted by the Lumberjacks.
Taylan Grogan led all scorers with 17 points for the Lumberjacks who had three players score in double digits; Dontrell Benjamin scored 13 and Larry Turner scored 11. Daylon Charlot chipped in another eight points for Patterson.
Morgan City was led by Brady Fryou with 9 points.
Central Catholic defeated Hancock (Miss.) 69-54.
Jalen Johnson poured in 13 points and snared 17 rebounds for the Eagles who were led in scoring by Tyler Hoffpauir with 20 points. Stefano Guarisco added 14 points and Samarick Paul had 13 for Central Catholic.
The tournament continues this afternoon with the following matchups and times:
—4 p.m., West St. Mary v. Morgan City.
—5:15 p.m., Franklin v. Hancock.
—6:30 p.m., Westgate v. Central Catholic.
—7:45 p.m., St. Martinville v. Patterson.
