Trio qualify for volleyball postseason

Staff Report

Three of four Tri-City area prep volleyball teams qualified for postseason play when the Louisiana High School Athletic Association unveiled its playoff brackets Sunday afternoon.
In Division III, Berwick (14-22) and Morgan City (13-24) advanced to postseason play, while Central Catholic (26-11) made the cut in Division V.
Central Catholic is the No. 4 seed in Division V and therefore receives a first-round bye. The Lady Eagles will host the winner of first-round matchup between No. 13 Catholic High-Pointe Coupee and No. 20 False River Academy later this week.
Meanwhile, in Division III, Berwick is the No. 19 seed and will travel to face a familiar foe in the first round, District 8-III opponent and No. 14 E.D. White (11-25). That contest will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at E.D. White. E.D. White defeated Berwick in both regular season contests.
As for Morgan City, the Lady Tigers also will hit the road for the first round when they travel to New Orleans to face No. 13 Lusher Charter (16-20) Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
