Vandebilt Catholic run-rules MCHS 14-4
The Morgan City Tigers fell to Vandebilt Catholic 14-4 in six innings Tuesday in District 7-4A action.
No individual statistics were available from Tuesday’s contest.
Morgan City (10-14 overall, 5-5 in district), which has dropped four straight district contests after a 5-1 start to league play, will conclude its home schedule Thursday with a 6 p.m. contest against Assumption.
CCHS clinches district title
The Central Catholic Eagles clinched the District 7-1A title outright as they rolled past Lafayette Christian 16-1 in five innings Wednesday in Amelia.
Central Catholic pounded out 15 hits in the win, while its pitching duo of Samuel Guarisco and Carlos Rivalta limited the Knights to a run on four hits.
Guarisco earned the win. In four innings, he surrendered two hits, walked two and fanned two.
In an inning of relief, Rivalta surrendered an earned run on two hits with one strikeout.
Central Catholic plated a run in the first, eight in the second and seven in the third for a commanding 16-0 lead.
Lafayette Christian scored its lone run in the top of the fifth.
The Knights committed four errors.
Offensively, Sage Thibodaux and Nick Case each homered for Central Catholic. Thibodaux finished 2-for-2 and added a double, four RBIs and two runs, while Case also was 2-for-2 and added a double, three RBIs and two runs. Other top contributors for the Eagles were Matthew Barbier, 2-for-2, an RBI, a stolen base and three runs; Stefano Guarisco, 2-for-3, two RBIs, a stolen base and three runs; Barron Courtney, 2-for-3, a double, a stolen base and a run; Samuel Guarisco, 2-for-4, an RBI and a run; Charlie Barron, 1-for-2, four RBIs, a stolen base and two runs; and Bryson Barbier, 1-for-3, an RBI, a stolen base and two runs.
Central Catholic (23-3, 11-1) will return to action Thursday when it plays Patterson in nondistrict action at Nicholls State University’s Ray E. Didier Field in Thibodaux in a 6 p.m. contest.
Landry tosses no-hitter
in Patterson win
Patterson pitcher Spencer Landry tossed a no-hitter as the Patterson Lumberjacks rolled past Centerville 13-0 in five innings Tuesday on the road.
In five innings, Landry surrendered two walks and fanned eight.
Offensively, Landry finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run.
Patterson scored all of its runs in the second through fourth innings with five in the second, seven more in the third and one in the fourth.
The Lumberjacks (17-9) recorded 10 hits led by Taylor Harris’ 2-for-3 performance with a double, four RBIs and two runs.
Other top contributors included Joel Singleton, 2-for-2, an RBI and two runs; Jalalen Broussard, 2-for-3, a double, an RBI and two runs; Sirbatian Charles, 1-for-3, an RBI, a stolen base and a run; Cameron Navarro, 1-for-4, two RBIs and a run; and Brennan Gouaux, an RBI, a stolen base and three runs.
Defensively, Patterson overcame four errors for the win.
