Volleyball power rankings updated

The latest unofficial Louisiana High School Athletic Association volleyball power rankings were released Tuesday and three of the four area teams either improved their ranking or remained idle.
Central Catholic and Morgan City each improved a spot in Divisions’ V and III, respectively, while Berwick remained idle in Division III. Patterson fell three spots in Division III.
Central Catholic improved to No. 10 in Division V, while Morgan City improved to No. 16 in Division III.
Berwick remained at No. 11 in Division III, while Patterson fell to No. 18.
Teurlings Catholic remained No. 1 in Division III, while Metairie Park Country Day is No. 1 in Division V.
The volleyball regular season ends Saturday, and playoff pairings will be announced Monday. Twenty four teams from each division will make the playoffs. Included in those numbers are automatic berths for the district champion and district runner up from each district. Six wild card spots are available in Division III, while eight spots are available in Division V.
The top eight teams in each division receive first-round byes in the postseason.
Central Catholic, who is the District 6-V champion, is the only local automatic qualifier.
