West St. Mary topples Loreauville Tigers 62-42
BALDWIN _ Dunante Charles, Tywan Polidore and Christopher Snowden all scored in double figures, leading the West St. Mary Wolfpack to a 62-42 District 6-2A victory over the Loreauville Tigers Tuesday at the West St. Mary High School Gym.
Charles tossed in a game-high 24 points on five treys, a pair of deuces and 5 for 5 charity shots as the Wolfpack moved to 3-0 in District 6-2A with the victory.
West St. Mary secured an early 17-10 lead of which it never relinquished.
The Wolfpack led by a 25-21 margin at the half before stretching their lead to 47-29 at the end of the third quarter.
West St. Mary notched its third straight league with after earning the 62-42 victory over Loreauville.
Charles scored from both inside and outside while leading the Wolfpack with a game-high 24 points.
Polidore connected on four field goals and 3 of 7 free throws for 11 points while Snowden made good on five floor shots for 10 points.
Rounding out the scoring for the Wolfpack were: Dondre Johnson, 9; Oshay Phillips, 3; Scottie Gray, 3 and Wayne Armelin, 2.
J. Jacobs led Loreauville with 13 points.
West St. Mary will travel to face Abbeville on Friday in non-district action at 5:15 p.m.
LOREAUVILLE 35, WEST ST. MARY 31
The Loreauville Lady Tigers knocked off the West St. Mary Lady Wolfpack 35-31 in District 6-2A action here Tuesday in at the West St. Mary Gym.
The West St. Mary Lady Wolfpack slipped to 2-2 in league play following the loss to Loreauville.
Leading scorers for the Lady Wolfpack were: Chyna Druilhet, 9; Antonia Chillis, 8; Italy Jack, 7; Takylan Hamilton, 6 and Jada Druilhet, 1.

Centerville Bulldogs blow out Highland Baptist 93-16
NEW IBERIA _ Jaylon Williams scored 31 first half points to staking Centerville Bulldogs to a 66-4 halftime lead, and the Bulldogs never looked back in defeating Highland Baptist 93-16 here Tuesday in District 7-1A action.
The Bulldogs rested their starting five in the second half.
The Bulldogs, now 13-5 and 5-2 in 7-1A, will travel to Gueydan on Friday.
Highland Baptist drops to 0-10 and 0-7 in 7-1A. They will host Vermilion Catholic on Friday.
Centerville raced outfront by a 31-2 lead in the first quarter before building a one-sided 66-4 halftime cushion. Centerville kept the hot hand in the second halftime posting the huge 93-16 league triumph.
Williams led Centerville in scoring with 31 points on 11-2’s and 3-3’s.
Jackson Hebert poured in 19 points for the Bulldogs on 7-2’s, 1-3 and 2 of 2 FTs.
Rounding out the scoring for CHS were: Landon Lanclos, 1-2, 2-3’s, 8 points; Marquis Strawder, 3-2’s, 0-2 FTs, 6 points; Lance Howard, 3-2’s, 6 points; Deandre Kinchen, 2-2’s, 1 for 4 FTs, 5 points; Tykeith Joseph, 2-2’s, 0-1 FTs, 5 points; Xavier Armstrong, 1-2, 1-3, 0-1 FTs, 5 points; Jaqualon Bourgeois, 1-2, 2 for 4 FTs, 4 points, Ryan Young, 1-2, 2 points and Collin Deslatte, 1-2, 2 points.
Leading scorer for Highland Baptist were: Alex Miller with 9 points.

Lady Bulldogs beat Highland
NEW IBERIA _ Rylie Candella scored 22 points, leading the Centerville Lady Bulldogs to a 45-42 District 7-1A victory over Highland Baptist here Tuesday.
Centerville grabbed a 21-10 lead in the opening quarter of which it extended to 32-17 at the half. In the third quarter, Centerville held a 35-21 cushion. Down the stretch, Highland Baptist outpointed Centerville by a 21-10 margin before the Lady Bulldogs strolled away with the 45-42 victory.
Candella led Centerville with a game-high 22 points followed by Alyrria Austin with 13 points and Hailey McDaniel with 10 points.
Centerville will return to action Friday, January 27 at Gueydan in District 7-1A action.

Gueydan wins over Hanson
GUEYDAN _ The Gueydan Lady Bears pulled out a 35-29 District 7-1A win over the Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers here Tuesday at the GHS Gym.
Casey Fitzgerald led the Hanson Memorial Lady Tigers in scoring with 17 points on five treys, one deuce and 1 of 2 freebies.
She also collected three rebounds, four steals and one block.
Other top scorers for the Lady Tigers were: Carlie Pellerin, 4 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists; Sarah Daniel, 4 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist; Allyssa Young, 2 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks and Baylee Young, 8 rebounds and 1 assist.
Hanson Memorial will travel to face AES on Friday in District 7-1A action.
