Felterman-Schexnayder exchange vows Oct. 23

Katie Felterman and Ian Schexnayder were united in matrimony during sunset nuptials at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 23 at Rip Van Winkle Gardens on Jefferson Island. Justice of the Peace Barbara Broussard was officiant of the double-ring outdoor ceremony held under the oaks near the lake.
The bride is the daughter of Danny and Linda Felterman of Patterson. The groom is the son of James and Suzanne Schexnayder of Abbeville.
Escorted in marriage by her father, the bride wore a strapless gown with a sweetheart neckline and mid-back design. The fitted bodice was embellished with beaded crystal embroidery and appliques. A fit-and-flare skirt with a train completed the gown.
Robin Speyrer was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Alyson Schexnayder, sister of the groom; Amanda Schexnayder; and Alissa Harris.
Bridal attendants were attired in navy blue dresses featuring an off-the-shoulder design, ruched chiffon at the waistline and a crystal brooch.
Flower girls were Mia Primeaux, godchild of the groom, and Camille Schexnayder.
Eli Schexnayder, son of the bride and groom, was ringbearer.
Jerod Meaux was best man. Groomsmen were Patrick Schexnayder, brother of the groom, and Chad Felterman and Tyler Felterman, brothers of the bride.
A reception followed in the Bayless Conference Center at Rip Van Winkle Gardens. Tables were adorned with lanterns, mixed florals and candles.
The bride’s cake was a three-tiered confection featuring textured buttercream icing and a navy blue ribbon at the base of the cake. The cake set atop a silver plateau adorned with fresh flowers.
Prior to the wedding, the groom’s family hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Riverfront Restaurant in Abbeville.
Prenuptial parties included a dinner shower given by Lisa Kornegay, Sylvia Felterman and Emily LaMonica at the Petroleum Club of Morgan City, a couple’s shower given by the bridesmaids at the home of James and Suzanne Schexnayder, and a bridal luncheon given by Harolyn Boyles and Peggy Darce at Cook’s Cottage.
The bride is a graduate of Patterson High School. She attended the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She is employed with the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The groom is a graduate of Abbeville High School. He is employed with Acadian Ambulance Service.
They honeymooned on a Caribbean cruise to Progresso and Cozumel, Mexico, and reside in Lafayette.
