Kornegay-LaMonica wed in Oct. 11 ceremony

Emily Kathleen Kornegay and Michael John LaMonica were joined in holy matrimony during a 2 p.m. Oct. 11 double-ring ceremony at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson. The Monsignor Richard Greene officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brightman Kornegay, of Patterson. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John LaMonica, of Chicago.
For the occasion, the altar was adorned with arrangements of ivory hydrangeas, roses, larkspur and snapdragons. Pew markers were of ivory and Majolica roses tied with shear ribbon. Anna Demos was program attendant.
Music was by organist Lee LeBlanc, vocalists Abbie Paradee and Evelyn Malone, and trumpeter Ian Bergeron.
For the ceremony, readers were Mark McGovern, Megan Maughan and Meg Rowley. Offertory gifts were presented by Katie Felterman and Linda Felterman. Parker Felterman was altar server and Jan Felterman was a Eucharist minister.
Escorted in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown designed with a lace bodice adorned with small crystals and pearls and scallop detail at the edge. The keyhole back was finished with fabric-covered buttons. The Dupioni silk skirt was finished with a scallop hem adorned with beaded lace.
Gracing her head was a fingertip-length edged veil.
She carried a round bouquet of white O’Hara roses, Mother of Pearl roses, ivory ranunculus and Majolica roses, and Sahara roses finished with ivory lace ribbon and an antique handkerchief belonging to her great-great-grandmother, the late Wilhelmina Vetter Folse.
Michelle May was maid of honor. She wore a dress of midnight navy peau de soie fashioned with a princes-seam yolk and front, and a back V-neckline and a short skirt gathered at the bodice.
She carried a round bouquet of Vendella roses, pale pink Mother of Pearl roses, Sahara and O’Hara roses, hydrangeas and succulents tied with ivory ribbon.
Bridesmaids were Amy Englert, Amy Larkin, Molly O’Keefe, Jennifer Prod, Leigh Anne Shirey and Lauren Williams.
Flower girls Cecilia Felterman and Dora Fisher each carried a pomander of ivory hydrangeas and Majolica roses. Adorning each girl’s head was a tiny wreath of roses.
Anthony LaMonica was his brother’s best man. Groomsmen were Will Kornegay, brother of the bride, Erron Fisher, Charles Hayman, Jonathan Hom and Brandon Michaels.
William Walter was ringbearer.
Ushers were Matthew Carrico and Steven Zendel.
A reception followed at NicoBella in Morgan City.
For the occasion, the foyer was decorated with vases of hydrangeas and roses, candles, framed engagement photos of the couple, and wedding photos of their parents, grandparents and ancestors. A chalk welcome sign depicted cities from which guests traveled. Entrances were draped with fabric and ceiling swags.
Guest tables were adorned with cylinder vases filled with ivory hydrangeas, pale pink and peach roses, ivory Majolica roses, pink stock, green willow, hanging amaranthus, foliage, lanterns and candles.
The bride’s cake was a four-tiered confection with ivory buttercream icing with lace appliques and beading bordering the layers. Clusters of ivory and dusted-pink flowers adorned the cake. Finishing the cake was the couple’s monogram.
The groom’s two-layered cake depicted the Chicago skyline and the groom’s favorite Chicago teams, symbols and logos.
During the reception, an “anniversary dance” was held to honor the couple married the longest. Honored for 65 years of marriage was the bride’s grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fulton C. Felterman Jr. They were presented the bride’s bouquet.
Prior to the wedding, the groom and his family hosted a rehearsal dinner at the “Old Warehouse” in Patterson.
Prenuptial events included a bridal shower in Chicago hosted by Dora LaMonica and Glikeria Papadiotis, a dinner shower hosted by Linda and Sylvia Felterman at the Petroleum Club of Morgan City, and a bridal luncheon hosted by Michelle May and Shelly May at The Atchafalaya at Idlewild clubhouse and restaurant.
The bride is a 2009 graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans with a bachelor’s degree in communication and American studies with a minor in business. She earned a master’s degree in strategic communication in 2011 from Villanova University. She is a market research associate at Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society in Chicago.
The groom is a 2004 graduate of Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He earned a juris doctor in 2007 from Chicago Kent College of Law. He is a partner with Fisher and LaMonica, P.C., in Chicago.
They took a honeymoon cruise to the western Caribbean and reside in Chicago.
