Rhodes-Beattie exchange vows June 11

Kara Rhodes and George R. Beattie were united in holy matrimony during a 1 p.m. double-ring ceremony June 11 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Bayou Vista. The Rev. William Rogalla was officiant of the nuptial Mass.
The bride is the daughter of Kenneth and Betsy Rhodes of Morgan City. She is the granddaughter of Bernie Anslum and the late Alma Anslum, and the late Davis and Sylvia Rhodes.
The groom is the son of George J. and Tammy Beattie of Berwick. He is the grandson of the late Dudley and Betty Landry, and the late George A. and Patricia Beattie.
For the ceremony, the sanctuary was enhanced with arrangements of white gladioluses, blue hydrangeas, gypsophila and cascading greenery. Pews were embellished with hand-tied bouquets of gypsophila and ivory double-faced satin ribbon.
Music was by organist Lee LeBlanc and vocalist Margaret Kreider. Ceremonial reader was Rebecca Rhodes Kuhn, aunt of the bride. Gift bearers were Dolores Fears, godmother of the bride, and Cynthia Chiasson, godmother of the groom.
Escorted in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a blush taffeta gown overlaid with ivory tulle and embellished with lace and silver appliques. The sweetheart bodice featured sheer, cap sleeves that flowed to the back to form a keyhole accent. Her fit and flare skirt was finished with scalloped lace trim along the hemline.
She carried a clutch bouquet of white roses, blue hydrangeas and gypsophila.
Kimber Pickens was her sister’s matron of honor. She wore a horizon-colored chiffon gown with a sweetheart neckline and cap sleeves. The crisscross-pleated bodice had soft front gathers.
Bridesmaids were Colleen Beattie, sister of the groom; Alexis Rice and Mattie Carter, cousins of the bride; and Brooke Quick.
The bridal attendants carried clutch bouquets of gypsophila.
Flower girl Ella Grace Pickens, goddaughter of the bride, wore a sleeveless ivory gown with a satin bodice with lace and beadwork accent at the waist. She carried a small pomander of ivory roses.
Ringbearer was George Preston Beattie, nephew of the groom.
Jace Guidry was best man. Groomsmen were Tyler Chiasson, Cody Chiasson, Brock Landry and Ryan Beattie, cousins of the groom.
Ushers were Billy Anslum, godfather of the bride, and Spencer Landry, cousin of the groom.
Reception followed at the Petroleum Club of Morgan City.
Decorations included a fresh floral arrangement of white gladioluses, blue hydrangeas and gypsophila at the registration table, and garlands of English ivy and assorted foliage used as pull-backs on the entrance curtains. Guest table centerpieces included blue hydrangeas and gypsophila in vases accented with candles, and vases of varying sizes holding floating candles and adorned with smilax and English ivy.
The bride’s table held a five-tiered round cake iced in white and adorned with blue and white fondant floral cascades.
The groom’s cake depicted a golf course.
Prior to the wedding, the groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Bay City Bistro in Morgan City.
The bride is a graduate of Morgan City High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Nicholls State University in Thibodaux.
The groom is a graduate of Berwick High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in business management.
They honeymooned in Maui, Hawaii, and reside in New Orleans.
