Verret-DeRouen wed at Sacred Heart

Brooke Elizabeth Verret and Lance Ferdinand DeRouen exchanged wedding vows Jan. 10 during a 7 p.m. ceremony at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City. The Rev. Gregory Fratt officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Mark and Patricia Verret of Morgan City. She is the granddaughter of Theresa Simoneaux of Morgan City, the late Earl Simoneaux, and the late Irvin and Helen Verret.
The groom is the son of Jeffery and Michelle DeRouen of Eunice. He is the grandson of F.J. and JoAnn DeRouen, and Adam and Patricia Johnson, all of Eunice.
For the ceremony, the church was decorated with gold and ivory bows. Music was by organist Lee LeBlanc and vocalist Bethanie Thibodaux. Lectors were Janice Verret, aunt of the bride and Colleen Ardoin, aunt of the groom.
Escorted in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a slim A-line gown designed with a sweetheart neckline, a corset back and cap sleeves. The gown was overlaid with tulle adorned with beaded-lace motifs. Her floor-length veil was trimmed with gold thread. Complementing her ensemble was a pearl necklace and earrings, family heirlooms given to the bride by Janice Verret.
She carried a bouquet of fresh ivory roses with gold and pearl embellishments. The bouquet was wrapped with lapis chiffon and ivory lace. Complementing the bouquet was a pearl rosary belonging to Danielle Anslem, matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Carmen Soileau, Daisy Broussard, Megan Evans, Amber Cavalier, Heather Andrus and Jade Pelican. Braelynn Andrus was junior bridesmaid.
Bridal attendants wore long dresses featuring sheer lapis chiffon and a beaded sweetheart neckline. The attendants wore matching pearl necklaces and earrings, a gift from the bride.
They carried bouquets of fresh ivory and light purple roses with a stem-wrap of lapis chiffon.
Flower girl was Braelyn Gustin. Ringbearer was Bentley Gustin.
Adam Gustin was best man. Groomsmen were Rex Brown, Mark Myers, Beau Frey, Kory Courville, Chet Savant, Jonathan Reaux and Michael Anslem Jr. Joshua Brown was junior groomsman.
Ushers were Jamie Verret, Hafiz Tuqan and Jacob Bellon.
A reception followed at NicoBella in Morgan City. The reception area was decorated with ivory rose floral arrangements, gold candelabra, ivory lace and lapis tablecloths, and vintage furniture.
The bride’s cake was a three-tiered confection embellished with ivory roses, gold beads and fleurs-de-lis.
Adorning the groom’s two-tiered cake was shotgun shells. Topping the cake was a duck.
The bride is a 2006 graduate of Morgan City High School and a 2010 graduate of Nicholls State University in Thibodaux with a bachelor’s degree in general studies. She attends Nicholls working towards a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. She works at St. Mary Behavioral Health Center.
The groom is a 2003 graduate of Eunice High School. He is a self-employed commercial fisherman.
They honeymooned in Key West, Fla., and reside in Morgan City.
