‘Bulb Beauty’ topic at Patterson Garden Club meeting

Patterson Garden Club’s November meeting and social was held Nov. 18 at the home of Iris Roy. Hostesses for the meeting were Fedora Boudreaux and Juanita Bienvenu.
Theme of the meeting was “Bulb Beauty.” Daisy Leblanc, horticulture committee co-chairman, educated members on the planting and care of lilies, daffodils and amaryllis.
During the business portion of the meeting, Roy and Linda Thomas discussed the Blue Star Marker ceremony at Patterson City Hall that was held Nov. 7 in conjunction with Veterans Day. Boudreaux, Garden of the Month committee chairman, congratulated Dad & Lad Togs, Frank’s Agency and Good Hope Baptist Church on Yard of the Month awards.
Roy, Ways & Means committee chairman, reported on the success of the club’s recent fundraiser and a donation made by Eva Tregle in memory of her mother, Nell Brown.
With the approach of the holiday season, there were several upcoming events that were discussed. On Dec. 2, club members will help decorate Patterson Healthcare Center for Christmas. The club’s December social will be held Dec. 16. Members were reminded to bring an unwrapped gift for Toys for Tots.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Roy won the half-and-half drawing.
