Area garden club presents 'Pollinators Live' to students

As part of the Louisiana Garden Club Federation “Pollinators Live” initiative, Bayou Vista Garden Club Adopt-a-School Chairman Donna Richard and President Donna Bucci presented a program on bees and wildflowers to Bayou Vista Elementary School first- and second-grade classes.
The book, “Buzz-Buzz Busy Bees,” by Bentley-Calhoun was donated to the school library, and was read and discussed to stress the importance of bees and other pollinators.
Tires were donated by Albert Soto, owner of Brothers’ Tire Service of Morgan City, for plant containers. Donna and Doyle Richard constructed and painted the tires in the form of a lady bug, frog and bumble bee. Students sowed wildflower seeds and planted violas, salvia and Mexican petunias. Bayou Vista Garden Club donated seeds, plants, watering cans and a “Gorilla” cart.
