Broadway in New Orleans announces 2015-16 season

NEW ORLEANS — East Jefferson General Hospital Broadway in New Orleans has announced its lineup for the 2015-16 season at the historic Saenger Theatre.
The season opens in September with the market debut of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. The animated classic comes to life on stage with songs like “Under the Sea” and “Part Of Your World.” In October, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella features an orchestra, the pumpkin, the glass slipper, the masked ball and surprising new twists!
Also planned is Disney’s Newsies, the new musical from Disney, and Disney’s Beauty and The Beast presented by NETworks, featuring production numbers.
In January, The Saenger will host Motown The Musical, the true American dream story of Motown founder Berry Gordy’s journey from featherweight boxer to the heavyweight music mogul who launched the careers of Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson and many more.
February welcomes Kinky Boots, a musical that won six Tony Awards including Best Musical. The Book of Mormon will return for a limited engagement in March. Direct from Broadway, the acclaimed masterpiece Cabaret will play in April.
Broadway in New Orleans will conclude its season with a four-week engagement in New Orleans with the musical Wicked in May. Based on the best-selling 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked has won more than 100 international awards, including a Grammy and three Tony Awards.
“This season once again celebrates the diversity of Broadway and brings its biggest hits along with widely-loved family classics to the Saenger Theatre,” said David Skinner, general manager of Ace Theatrical Group and the Saenger Theatre. “From the memorable scenes to outstanding scores, we are proud to offer a sensational new season that we hope our audiences will appreciate.”

—Newsies, Dec. 1-6;
—Beauty and The Beast, Dec. 29, 2015 to Jan. 3, 2016;
—Motown The Musical, Jan. 19-24, 2016;
—Kinky Boots, Feb. 16-21, 2016;
—The Book of Mormon, March 8-13, 2016;
—Cabaret, April 5-10, 2016;
—Wicked, May 25-June 19, 2016.

Subscribers can choose a six-show package without The Book of Mormon, starting at $170, or a seven-show package including The Book of Mormon, starting at $205. Both packages can add all three season options.
The final deadline for current season subscribers to renew and keep their same seats is April 6.
