Bayou Vista Elementary students are busy cleaning carrots following the final harvest of the season. Bayou Vista Garden Club is an Adopt-A-School sponsor of the school. Club Adopt-A-School Chairman Donna Richard planned and organized the “Healthy Eating” project in conjunction with Principal Carol St. Germain, St. Mary Parish Supervisor of School Food Service Claire Guarisco, teachers Kayla Perry (pre-K) and Marita Voison (physical education), and Cafeteria Manager Jennifer McDonald.

BVGC encourages from garden to table

Bayou Vista Elementary School students and Bayou Vista Garden Club members completed the final harvest of carrots in the vegetable gardens planted at the school in the Fall.
Students planted, harvested and cleaned carrots, which were then distributed to the student body as healthy snacks.
Bayou Vista Garden Club is an Adopt-A-School sponsor of the school. Club Adopt-A-School Chairman Donna Richard planned and organized the “Healthy Eating” project in conjunction with Principal Carol St. Germain, St. Mary Parish Supervisor of School Food Service Claire Guarisco, teachers Kayla Perry (pre-K) and Marita Voison (physical education), and Cafeteria Manager Jennifer McDonald.
The club’s project has helped educate the students on gardening and healthy eating.
