BATON ROUGE — The Fashion Association at Louisiana State University will present Decadence, a student runway show, on May 11 in the Royal Cotillion Ballroom in the LSU Student Union. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and the show will start at 6 p.m.
The show will feature more than 100 student garments and a styling competition.
Grace Chetta, a senior in the program and fashion show chair, said seniors and graduate students in the LSU College of Agriculture Department of Textiles, Apparel Design and Merchandising will have individual collections of four to six garments in the show. Juniors are invited to show pieces as well.
“We have a lot of variety in the collections this year, including menswear, swimwear and loungewear,” Chetta said.
All members of the Fashion Association at LSU can participate in the styling competition, which is sponsored by Time Warp Boutique. Students can pick out clothes from Time Warp Boutique, and their looks will walk the runway, Chetta said. They will be judged on their ability to style the items.
Students also will show their Marsh on the Catwalk pieces. A grant from the Louisiana Alligator Advisory Council allows students to work with alligator skins to create garments and accessories.
Chetta described the show as a fitting culmination of students’ time in the program.
“I think our collections are a testament to what we learned in college, and they show our grasp on our aesthetic,” she said.
Tickets to the show can be purchased at eventbrite.com or at the door. Advanced general admission is $15. Admission at the door is $20. Standing room is $10, and the student price with an LSU student ID is $5.
