Finding Family Workshop set Nov. 12 at Jeanerette Museum

Have you ever wondered if you are related to a famous person? Do you want to learn more about your family and discover new family members?
The Jeanerette Museum is hosting a Finding Family Workshop from 10 a.m. to noon on Nov. 12 to help the public learn more about basic genealogy.
This free workshop is led by Shirley Broussard, a volunteer in the genealogy section at Parkview Library.
In the workshop, she will explain genealogy books compiled by the Rev. Donald Hebert along with Baton Rouge Diocese, South Louisiana and New Orleans Diocese records, according to museum new release. She will give insight into the various online data bases to assist in finding family records as well as discuss church records, courthouse records, census records and more.
Broussard is originally from Arkansas and grew up in Mississippi. She moved here in 1960 and began researching her husband’s family in 1997. When a special genealogy room was being planned for the library system, she was responsible for having genealogy books transferred and helped in the planning stages of the room.
Broussard is undertaking other projects including the mapping of a Jeanerette gravesite.
Registration is recommended for this free workshop so that adequate supplies may be on hand, however registration is not required to attend. This program is best suited for an adult audience.
