Girl Scouts announce distinction awards

BATON ROUGE — Four women leaders in the community will be honored at the Girl Scouts Louisiana East 2016 Women of Distinction awards luncheon on May 11 at the Renaissance Baton Rouge Hotel.
Honorees are former Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Babineaux Blanco; Mae Calvin Belton, chair-elect of the Baton Rouge Symphony; LSU Lady Tiger’s Basketball Coach Nikki Caldwell-Fargas; and State Rep. Julie Stokes.
The women were selected based on their remarkable achievements as business, community and civic leaders in their fields, who are committed to supporting leadership opportunities for girls.
“It is our pleasure to recognize these women for their accomplishments and dedication to excellence,” said Mary-Patricia Wray, who is chairing the luncheon, assisted by committee members Linda Law Clark, Bethany France and Robyn Merrick. “As inspiring leaders and role models, our honorees have dedicated themselves to making our community a better place, demonstrating Girl Scout values in all they do.”
A champagne reception begins at 11 a.m. with lunch from noon to 1 p.m. Tickets for the awards luncheon are $75 per person or $100 each when including the champagne reception preceding lunch. Reserved tables of 10 are $1,000.
All proceeds support the Girl Scout Leadership Experience in southeast Louisiana, and tickets may be purchased online at www.gsle.org/wod. For more information, contact Jill Pollard at 504-355-5871 or jpollard@gsle.org
