Girl Scouts set winter dates for Forever Girl Scout camp

NEW ORLEANS — After two successful adult camping weekends in September, Girl Scouts Louisiana East invites its Forever Girl Scout alumnae to a Winter Adult Camping Weekend set Jan. 27-29, 2017, at Camp Marydale in St. Francisville, and Camp Whispering Pines in Independence.
The two events are being planned for the same weekend — from 7 p.m. Friday night to 11 a.m. Sunday. The camping weekend is open to all former Girl Scouts, troop leaders, volunteers, camp counselors, or staff members (female and male) from anywhere in the world. Females and males will be lodged separately.
Each weekend is $56 per registrant or $36 for Saturday only. Members of the Forever Girl Scouts Adult Alumnae club receive a 50 percent discount. Charter membership in Forever Girl Scouts is $75 annually and includes an array of benefits which includes discount pricing for some special events, club T-shirt and more.
Registration is available online for the weekends and the club at www.gsle.org/alumnae. Deadline to register for the camping weekends is Jan. 6.
Weekend activities include time to share Girl Scout stories and pictures, taking a Forever Girl Scout alumnae group picture, cookout, low and high ropes challenge, archery, kayaking, canoeing, campfire with s’mores and songs, and more.
“Whether you want to enjoy a relaxing weekend, reminisce about memories at your favorite Girl Scout camp, or reunite with old friends or make new ones, Forever Girl Scout camping weekends are for you,” said Jill Pollard, chief development officer, program and properties.
