Girls invited to Girl Scout Day Sept. 26 in Morgan City

NEW ORLEANS — Girl Scouts Louisiana East is hosting a Girl Scout Day in Morgan City for girls of all ages from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 26 at Morgan City Municipal Auditorium.
Free and open to the public, Girl Scout Day is an opportunity for families to learn more about the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. Girls in kindergarten through 12th grade will participate in demonstrations, face painting, songs and games, Zumba, agriculture, science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and other hands-on activities.
“It’s the beginning of a brand new school year, and we want to introduce girls to some of the fun things we do in Girl Scouting, and hopefully find some leaders to head up troops here in Morgan City,” said Membership Executive Laurey Jones.
Collaborative organizations participating in the event include the U.S. Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit, and the U.S. Wildlife Refuge. Refreshments will be provided compliments of Domino’s, Sweet & Simple Cupcakes, and Tropical Smoothie.
The mission of Girl Scouts is to build girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. In partnership with caring adult volunteers, girls develop leadership skills as they discover new interests, connect with others, and take action on issues that are important to them, the Girl Scouts Louisiana East new release stated.
Membership is $15 per year for girls and adults. Some favorite areas of interest for girls and adults include camping, travel, health and fitness, the arts, science and technology, and cookie selling.
The Morgan City Municipal Auditorium is located at 728 Myrtle St.
