Levron named St. Mary AARP Father’s Day King

St. Mary AARP held its monthly dinner and meeting on June 2 at St. Mary Senior Citizens Center, home of St. Mary AARP, in Morgan City. Victor Levron was named St. Mary AARP Father’s Day King through a random drawing. Presenting him with his recognition was AnnEtta Lombardo, Father’s Day drawing coordinator.
A&M Cooling and Quality Diesel were meal co-sponsors. Members feasted on hot dogs and chili prepared by the cooking team of Linda Darce, Pat Fryer, Jerry Fabre, Joe Pizzuto, and Curtis Leonard.
President Leonard chaired the meeting with Lombardo leading the opening prayer.
Meeting speakers included Lennie Alleman of A&M Cooling. He urged members to volunteer to help with St Mary AARP functions. Speaker Deborah Acosta of Oncologics informed members about the company’s radiation treatments available in Morgan City.
Members were reminded that the next smart driver’s course begins June 19. To participate contact the AARP office at 985-384-2277. Completing the course may qualify participants for an auto insurance discount.
Members were informed of upcoming trips available to members and nonmembers. On Aug. 14, St. Mary AARP will hold its “Famous Mystery Tour” leaving from Morgan City. From Sept. 15 to 20, there will be a cruise from New Orleans to Progresso and Cozumel, Mexico. Contact the AARP office for details.
The next meeting will be July 7. The meal will feature red beans and rice with sausage.
