The Little Free Library: Take a book — Return a book

A grand opening was held for the Little Free Library on July 30 at 714 Main St. in Patterson. Family and friends attending the unveiling of the Little Free Library each brought a book or two to put in the library, top photo. Robby Robertson, left in bottom photo, looks on as Becky Kinchen takes a closer look at the library. Little Free Library is a nonprofit organization that supports the worldwide movement to offer books housed in little small containers to members of the local community. It is referred to as community book exchanges, neighborhood book exchanges, book trading posts, pop-up libraries and micro-libraries, and have been likened to human bird feeders. The concept is simple, share a book — take a book. It is a free way to recycle books and it brings people together in a happy, friendly way, according to Patterson Little Free Library steward Beth Felterman. Public participation is encouraged and welcomed. For information online, visit www.littlefreelibrary.org or email Felterman at bethfelterman@yahoo.com.
