Louisiana Cookin’ host the 12th annual ‘Chefs to Watch’

NEW ORLEANS — On Monday, Louisiana Cookin’ magazine will host the 12th annual ‘Chefs to Watch’ benefiting Café Reconcile. The event, from 6 to 10 p.m., will be held at the newly renovated Café Reconcile at 1631 Oretha C. Haley Blvd.
Six chefs — from throughout the state — will show off some of their most fabulous fare while raising money to support Reconcile, a restaurant/mentoring program which provides at-risk youth with both job- and life-skills training.
“Talent is an innate concept, but it is our societal duty to foster it in every way possible,” said Glen Armantrout, CEO of Café Reconcile. “The Chefs to Watch awards program is, in essence, the end goal of what we try to do at Reconcile: Support talent to its maximum success and potential.”
The 2013 Chefs to Watch — and their dishes featured at the event — are:
—Chef Daniel Causgrove, formerly of Dijon and now with The Grill Room in New Orleans, serving Roasted Oysters with Fried Kale and Parmesan.
—Chef Justin Girouard, The French Press in Lafayette, Sweet “Baby Breesus” (boudin balls coated with a Tabasco Honey Butter).
—Chef Michael Gulotta, formerly of August and now the proprietor of MoPho in New Orleans, Salad of Blue Crab and Candied Acorn Squash with Spiced Pecans, Crispy Bacon and Brown Butter.
—Chef Alex Harrell, Sylvain in New Orleans, Corn Soup with Pork Belly Marmellata and Pickled Mushrooms.
—Chef Chris Wadsworth, formally with IPO Restaurant in Baton Rouge and founder of Triumph Kitchen in Baton Rouge, Pickled Shrimp and Tasso Tacos.
—Chef Bronwen Wyatt, La Petite Grocery in New Orleans, Butterscotch Pudding with Toffee-Espresso Sauce.
Tickets are $75 ($125.00 for VIP access) and include all-you-can-eat-and-drink from the aforementioned chefs as well as access to the silent auction. Entertainment will be live music including Joe Simon’s Jazz.
