Teachers: Lauren Rentrop, Marcia Bergeron, Jackie Wilson, Kerrie Kinkle, Bridget Mabile and Shane White. M C Bank donated the trophies. Nicholls Reading Council recognizes local winners

The Nicholls State University Reading Council held a Louisiana Reading Association’s Young Authors Contest for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The council serves St. Mary, Assumption, Lafourche, St. John, St. James and Terrebonne parishes to promote literacy.
An Awards Ceremony was held at Julia B. Maitland School in Morgan City to recognize first-place student-author winners. Each student was awarded a trophy, certificate and gift bag. Teachers of the student winners were awarded a certificate for their support of this literacy project.
