Operation COOK Project completes year

Operation COOK Project Club had another year full of new recipes and healthy lifestyle activities. On March 25, this group of “chefs” attended the last class of the year and received a bag full of surprises for their accomplishments.
Class participants include Hailey Williams, Joseph Duhon, Scott Price, Louis Benoit, Hailey Fontenot, Destiney Sutton, Raven Gary, Saige Gary and Chloe Morris. Youth volunteer for the program was Rhea Patureau.
Louisiana 4-H was recipient this year of the Walmart/National 4-H Council Healthy Living Grant — Fit4TheFuture Phase 3. The grant provides resources and opportunities for youth to develop and maintain healthy lifestyles, which ultimately result in youth voice advocating for a fit future, the LSU AgCenter news release stated.
St. Mary Parish 4-H received $1,600 in the form of a mini-grant that was utilized in furnishing kitchen supplies and exercise tools to be used during the classes.
Children interested in signing up for the 2014-15 Operation COOK Project Club should attend their school’s 4-H Club meeting in September to get an enrollment form or get in touch with the St. Mary Parish 4-H office at the LSU AgCenter in the St. Mary Parish Courthouse in Franklin.
