Patterson Garden Club hears program on chrysanthemums

The Patterson Garden Club held its monthly meeting Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the home of Iris Roy.
Hostesses for the meeting were Sandra Underwood and Evelyn Estay.
The theme for this month’s meeting was “Chrysanthemums for Everyone.” Vice President Evelyn Estay presented a program discussing the variations of chrysanthemums and how to care for them.
After the meeting was called the order, President Sandra Marshall welcomed a special guest, Annel Kelly, who was in town visiting her sister, Gretchen Lambert. Next, Linda Thomas and Iris Roy advised that the Blue Star Marker ceremony held in conjunction with Veterans Day will take place at 11 a.m. Nov. 7 at city hall. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
Fedora Boudreaux, chairman of the Garden of the Month committee, announced that the October recipients for Garden of the Month were Liz and Steve Ellison, and Donna and David Thibodeaux. Daisy Leblanc invited all members to attend the Halloween Party at the Center of Hope at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 29 in Centerville.
The group also discussed upcoming events, including the Arbor Day ceremony and the annual door decorating contest to be held at Hattie Watts Elementary.
Sandra Understood was the winner of the half-and-half drawing at the end of the meeting.
Next month’s meeting will be held on Nov. 18. Hostesses will be Fedora Boudreaux and Juanita Bienvenu.
