Patterson Garden Club holds Feb. meeting

Patterson Garden Club’s meeting and social was held Feb. 11 at the home of Iris Roy. Theme for the meeting was “The Beauty of Natural Gardening.”
Member Gretchen Lambert, an avid gardener and horticulture committee chairman, gave a presentation on natural remedies from the garden. She provided information from the “Great Green Book of Garden Secrets” by Jerry Baker.
Hostesses were Rosa Butler and Ginger Griffin.
During the business portion of the meeting Fedora Boudreaux, Garden of the Month committee chairman, announced that Pam and Tom Motes were named February Yard of the Month winners.
Ginger Griffin, Arbor Day committee chairman, discussed with the club the Arbor Day Ceremony to be held at 10 a.m. Feb. 21 at Hattie Watts Elementary in Patterson. The club will plant a tree at Patterson City Hall in honor of Jimmy Bernauer, former mayor.
Several other upcoming events were discussed, including the February birthday party to be held at the Patterson Healthcare Center, as well as a progress report on the upcoming ways and means committee raffle.
At the conclusion of the meeting Hannah Boudreaux won the half-and-half drawing.
