Patterson Garden Club holds first meeting of season

The Patterson Garden Club held its first meeting of the 2014-15 year at the home of Iris Roy on Sept. 16. Theme of the meeting was “The Beauty of New Beginnings.”
Hostesses for the meeting were Iris Roy and Daisy Leblanc.
After getting re-acquainted and sharing summer adventures, President Sandra Marshall called the meeting to order. First on the agenda was to distribute new yearbooks to all members and outline the year’s activities and programs.
There was a discussion about the upcoming district meeting in St. Martinville on Oct. 14, which several members plan to attend.
Fedora Boudreaux, Yard of the Month committee chairman, discussed expanding the area for judging outside of the city limits of Patterson, which was approved. The August Yard of the Month winner was Oscar Bergeron. Lane and Laura Larive won the September Yard of the Month award.
After a plant exchange among members, Sharon Larson won the half-and-half drawing.
The October meeting will be held on Oct. 21. Hostesses will be Evelyn Estay and Sandra Underwood.
